With Mel Day’s Medium and Message classes at SJSU

May 2, 2017 – I had an amazing time at San Jose State University in the Art & Art History Department with artist Mel Day’s three classes  (two “Medium and Message” classes and one BFA Seminar). We talked about how Collaborative Combative Drawing relates to social practice, relational aesthetics and conceptual art. One student asked me what I mean by “leverage” when I was demonstrating how to move someone else’s body by the elbow.  I like how this question has me mulling over the word “leverage” both literally and metaphorically… like so much about this practice.  Thank you Mel Day and the wonderful SJSU students!
